What a year this has been!
I am so grateful and honored to have these performers as my students!
We navigated through another complicated and uncertain year.
We found that music helped release the stress of the day...
...that BREATH is very important.
The breath starts the song. It moves the music forward.
It moves US forward and it's the most important player in the show.
Taking time to find it, work with it
and eventually understand that, when we are nervous or uneasy,
it may be harder to find, is all part of the journey.
As we end another year, and start planting seeds for 2022,
I hope that we may find time to "take a breath" in our everyday lives.
Life is music in the making.
Sometimes its quiet and slow while other times its cacophonous and speedy.
May you find a groove and tempo that works harmoniously for you in 2022.
Trust yourself more than ever.
And now to these great performances! I am soooo, SOOO Proud!
Keep a song in your beautiful heart!

It's the Autumn Recital!
The leaves are changing. The rains have returned. The days are growing shorter. Life continues to be full of activities. Students have been buzzing here and there, working hard on finding the balance within their many activities and life. I am always in awe of their progress.
While we patiently await the safe times when we can all be together again, here is a beautiful collection of songs that took many hours of patience and hard work.
Performing is a big deal.
Performance more than reading notes on a page, reciting lyrics, and matching tones. It is the art of bringing the score to life and giving it the human breath or "magic" that others, the audience, feels.
Here's to that magic and the path of discovering how to share it with others. I am so proud of my students for carving out time in their busy lives to dwell in the art of performance!
It's a big deal.... and so are they.

Syren's Voice Mid-Year Recital!
(Formerly known as the Spring Recital but, since we are online, we have MORE performance opportunities! Huzzah!)
This has been a very creative spring!
Students continued to push themselves to learn more difficult techniques, styles, and ranges of songs.
They are certainly leveling up their "musical moxie". WOOT!
Every recital just makes my heart sing!
I am so proud of my students for facing the challenges of this past year with humble hearts and a passion for showing up! They inspire me beyond words.
Courage! Kindness! Trust!
Woot! for being courageous to try new things.
Woot! for being kind to yourself when a skill may not come quickly.
Woot! for trusting that it's all there, inside, for the performance.
Here's to all the performers, to their amazing performances, and to all their hard work!
Big hugs and love!
